NOTICE OF PRIMARY ELECTION
In compliance with the provisions of Section 49.53 of the Code
of Iowa, I, Leslie A. Soule, Commissioner of Elections of Muscatine
County, State of Iowa, do hereby give due notice that on Tuesday, June
5, 2018, a Primary Election will be held for the purpose of selecting
candidates for the Republican, Democratic and Libertarian parties for
various National, State, and Local offices.
The polls will be open at 7:00 A.M. and will close at 9:00 P.M. Any voter
who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in
the voter’s vehicle. For further information, please contact the County
Auditor’s Office at (563) 263-5821.

There is one (1) Senate District up for election in Muscatine County,
namely the 37th. The 37th District includes the following precinct: The
City of Wilton. The Republican Party has no candidate on the ballot.
The Democratic Party has Eric Dirth, Zach Wahls, Janice Weiner and
Imad Youssif on the ballot. The Libertarian party has Carl A. Krambeck
on the ballot.
There are three (3) Representative Districts in Muscatine County,
namely the 73rd, 88th and 91st. The 73rd District includes the
following precinct: The City of Wilton. The Republican Party has Bobby
Kaufmann on the ballot. The Democratic Party has Jodi Clemens on
the ballot. The Libertarian party has no candidate on the ballot.
The 88th District includes the following precincts: The City of West
Liberty and the townships of Cedar, Goshen, Lake, Moscow, Orono,
Pike, Seventy-Six, Wapsinonoc and Wilton and the portion of Fruitland
Township included in the Fruitland Two Precinct. The Republican
Party has David Kerr on the ballot. The Democratic Party has Noah
Canady and Lanny Hillyard on the ballot. The Libertarian Party has no
candidate on the ballot.
The 91st District includes the following precincts: All precincts
in the City of Muscatine and the townships of Bloomington, Fulton,
Montpelier, Sweetland and the portion of Fruitland Township located in
the Fruitland One Precinct. The Republican Party has Gary Carlson on
the ballot. The Democratic Party has Laura J. Liegois on the ballot. The
Libertarian Party has no candidate on the ballot.
I hereby certify that the ballots shown with this notice are a true
and correct facsimile of the Official Ballot to be voted at the Primary
Election to be held on June 5, 2018 in Muscatine County, State of Iowa.
The State Senator and Representative Offices on the ballot will be
shown on the sample ballots posted in each of the voting precincts, as

indicated in this legal notice. The sample ballot on this notice has been
prepared according to Section 49.31 of the Code of Iowa.
All registered voters in Muscatine County are eligible to vote in this
election. All voter registrations must be received no later than 5:00
P.M. on Friday, May 25, 2018. Same Day Registration on Election Day
will require Photo ID and Proof of Residence. Absentee ballots are
available by submitting an application to the Auditor’s Office, or you
may vote in person at the Auditor’s Office weekdays from 8:00 A.M.
until 4:30 P.M., 414 E Third St., Suite 201, Muscatine, IA until 4:30 P.M.
on June 4, 2018. The Auditor’s Office will also be open from 8:00 A.M.
until 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Voters are required to provide an approved form of identification
at the polling place before they may receive and cast a ballot. Preregistered voters who are unable to show an approved ID may sign an
oath of identification for an election held in 2018. Voters who are not
pre-registered or who have changed precincts also may be required to
provide proof of residence. Any voter who cannot show ID may have
their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who
has proper ID. Starting January 1, 2019, all voters will be required to
present an approved form of identification. For additional information

A Public Test of the electronic voting system to be
election will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at
the Muscatine County Auditor’s Office on the Second
Muscatine County Administration Building, 414 E. Third
201, Muscatine, IA.
