Kevin E. Schmidt/QUAD-CITY TIMES -- Quad-City radio duo Greg Dwyer and Bill Michaels are no longer on the air.

TODAY: (Updated 1:13 p.m.) The hosts of the top-rated morning radio show in the Quad-Cities for most of the past 11 years are leaving the station.

Greg Dwyer and Bill Michaels, whose “Dwyer & Michaels” program has been on KCQQ-FM (Q-106.5) since September 1995, have left the station, said Larry Rosmilso, general manager of Clear Channel Communication’s Quad-City Radio Group.

“The official statement is they have opted not to renew their employment with the station,” he said today.

The syndicated “Bob & Tom Show” moved into the morning spot on Q-106.5 today, he said. “Bob & Tom” had been on KUUL-FM (101.3) and will continue there until a new morning show is announced — sometime in the next 30 to 45 days, he said.

“It gives us an opportunity to tell everybody on KUUL that we’re moving it over to Q and promote it and debut it on Q,” he said.

Rosmilso said most of the contract negotiations were between Clear Channel’s corporate offices and the agent for Dwyer and Michaels.

He said the morning show duo had an opportunity they could not refuse.

“It was 11 years, a lot of fun,” Rosmilso added. “They did very well by us and we did very well by them. But all good things come to an end.”
