TODAY: (Updated 6:16 p.m.) A Davenport man who led police on a chase through Clinton and Scott counties Saturday has now been charged with eluding officers and operating while intoxicated, third offense.

According to Iowa State Patrol, about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Clinton County deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Jason Michael Lucas, 30, of Davenport, on U.S. 61 southbound near DeWitt. Deputies suspected that he was driving drunk. Police said he refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.

State troopers got involved in the chase at Interstate 80 and U.S. 61, with assistance from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department. The pursuit continued into Davenport city limits.

Troopers used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle, but troopers said Lucas then fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot chase near Kirkwood Boulevard and Farnam Street.

Lucas is also charged with driving while barred and interference with official acts.
