The mother of Christopher Rector, one of two men killed in an alleged drunk driving accident on the Centennial Bridge in April, has filed suit against several local establishments that allegedly served alcohol to the other driver.

The family of the other man who died in the accident, Nicholas Eaton, already filed a similar suit in October.

The suit filed in U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois, names the Rock Island Boat Club, Rick and Kathy’s Lounge, Thirsty Beaver, Triangle Inn, Avenue Tap Inc. and Jesse’s Saloon as defendants.

The suit filed by Eaton’s family named the boat club, Rick and Kathy’s Lounge, Thirsty Beaver and Triangle Inn.

The suit names Vicky Zahn of Davenport, who is Rector’s mother, as the administrator of his estate.

The other driver, Matthew Irwin, 25, is charged in Scott County District Court with two counts of homicide by vehicle, one count of serious injury by vehicle and operating while intoxicated, third offense, in connection with the April 29 crash.

The lawsuits have been filed under the Dram Shop Act and claim the establishments served alcohol to Irwin the night of the crash. They do not detail what time he visited each place or how much he allegedly drank at each establishment.
