Romney: No licenses to illegal immigrants

Republican Mitt Romney came out in support of New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s decision to drop the idea of allowing illegal immigrants to gain driver’s licenses.
“States that provide driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants act as a magnet for more illegal immigration and frustrate our country’s efforts to control the borders,” Romney said in a statement. “Unlike Sen. Clinton, I oppose driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants. As president, I will adopt policies that discourage states from turning into sanctuaries.”
Clinton said Thursday she would not as president support giving driver’s licenses to undocumented people.
