A 65-year-old Davenport woman is facing a felony theft charge after she allegedly stole $75,000 from the bank account of an elderly man, Davenport police said.

Sally Ann Carmichael, of 1000 Blythewood Place, Apt. G127, is charged with theft first-degree, a Class C felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

According to police reports, the 97-year-old man is a dependent adult who allegedly was removed from a nursing home by Carmichael. From April 2007 until January she allegedly took $75,000 in cash from the man’s bank account.

The victim had lived with Carmichael at the Blythewood Place apartment.

Bond was set at $10,000. However, Carmichael, who was arrested Wednesday, either posted bond or was granted pre-trial release as the Scott County Jail said Thursday night that she no longer was an inmate.
