MUSCATINE, Iowa — A 48-year-old Muscatine woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
The Muscatine Police Department and the Muscatine Fire Department responded to the accident involving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer sports utility vehicle on U.S. 61 bypass between Hershey Avenue and Mittman Road.
The driver was Yvonne Reid, 48, of Muscatine. Police said the Blazer was southbound on U.S. 61 when she apparently lost control, drove on to the median and then proceeded to roll the vehicle. The Blazer came to rest on the shoulder of the northbound traffic lane.
Reid was thrown from the SUV, which caught fire. The Muscatine Fire Department extinguished the blaze.
Reid, who is the owner of the vehicle, was flown by helicopter from the scene to University Hospitals, Iowa City. Her condition was unavailable late Sunday.
No charges or citations have been issued in connection with the accident, which remains under investigation.
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.
