While watching the river rise this spring, we were was extremely disappointed when the predicted crest rose from 16.5 feet (no threat to our building at 2nd and Iowa streets) to over 19 feet in the course of a single night.

The city of Davenport was also caught off guard, but they sprung into action and implemented their detailed flood plan. We have to admire and commend the city, Dee Bruemmer, and the entire Public Works Department for their quick response and efficient way they went about protecting the downtown businesses.

We would also like to thank our employees, friends and even the strangers that came by and helped us sandbag our entryways. After seeing what the city accomplished this year, we will probably forgo sandbagging in future floods. Thank you city of Davenport for a job well done.
