Moline airport has lost its appeal

I have always had a soft spot for Quad-City International Airport. After my last MLI visit, my opinion has changed.

When I arrived in Moline I found that two flights had arrived at the same time and it was obvious the airport is in no condition to handle this. Arriving at the pickup area with my vehicle I found all spots taken. Some vehicles had started a second lane leaving a third lane for vehicles to pass by.

I had just come to a stop when there was a banging on my window. I was confronted by an airport worker screaming at me to move. I tried to explain, my wife was bringing the luggage out. The man said that I was double parked, it was illegal and I would be ticketed. He shouted I would need to go back to short-term parking and wait for her there. After spending $30 in parking fees, I did not relish spending more.

After two trips around the airport I went back to short-term parking and walked to the terminal. When I returned I saw five vehicles in the same place I had been and the airport person no where in sight.

Why are there no shuttle buses between the lot and terminal? What about hiring employees that use tact and common sense when dealing with the people?

Perhaps the airport manager needs to spend more time taking care of existing issues.
