GALESBURG, Ill. — A Sterling, Ill., man charged in two murders and named as a suspect in six others is heading back to court.
Nicholas Sheley is slated to appear before a Knox County judge early this afternoon in Galesburg, where he’s being held on charges that accuse him of killing 65-year-old Ronald Randall.
Sheley also is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling.
In addition, authorities have named Sheley a suspect — although he hasn’t been charged — in the deaths of four people in a Rock Falls apartment and a married couple in Festus, Mo..
Sheley is being held in the Knox County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond for the Randall murder.
