The show will go on for 17 of the 30 productions scheduled for the 2008-09 season at the University of Iowa’s Hancher Auditorium, Hancher officials announced Wednesday.

The touring Broadway productions of “Monty Python’s Spamalot” and “Avenue Q,” as well as events such as the Joffrey Ballet and National Acrobats of China that require more complicated staging and technical capabilities, have been taken off the schedule while other events have been moved to various locations in Iowa City and Coralville, Iowa.

The opening show, ScrapArtsMusic, will be presented free at the Pentacrest on the campus.

Other locale changes are:

Kathy Griffin, Oct. 4, Carver-Hawkeye Arena

Global Drum Project, Oct. 15, West High School

Judy Collins, Oct. 17, Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

Chiara String Quartet, Oct. 18, Congregational United Church of Christ

An Irish Homecoming, Nov. 6-7, Englert Theatre

Takács Quartet, Muzsikás and Marta Sebestyen, Nov. 12, City High School

Flood waters rose 18 inches above the Hancher stage this summer, with an estimate of damage at $13 million.
