DES MOINES — Iowa Gov. Chet Culver on Friday appointed Urbandale Republican Paul Hayes to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

The five-member commission regulates Iowa’s state-licensed casinos and racetracks.

Hayes is an accountant and president of JSC Properties in Des Moines.

“His years of experience and commitment to our state will make him an invaluable member of this important commission,” Culver said in a statement Hayes replaces Gerald Bair, who was not reappointed to another term on the commission.
