Creekside Vineyards Winery & Inn bed and breakfast in rural Coal Valley, Ill., has begun selling wine made with homegrown grapes.
John Mital, president of the company, said weekly wine tastings will be held in September and October.
Mital and his wife, Jennifer, operate the winery portion of the business. The vineyard, which opened in 2006, is owned by them and Mital’s parents, Don and Beverly Mital. The elder Mitals also own and operate the bed and breakfast portion, which opened two years ago.
“We offer varietal wines and a relaxing place to enjoy a bottle if visitors want to stay and enjoy the afternoon,” Jennifer Mital said. “We encourage our guests to pack a snack and enjoy some fresh air.”
The wines will be available for sale and tasting from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each Saturday in September and October.
“We are doing something a little different,” John Mital said of the wines. “The wines are high quality, a local product with a green component. We are releasing three wines in September, and in October, we will release two more.”
The inn and vineyards are located in a 30-acre valley in rural Rock Island County. The inn has four rooms with king-sized beds, full breakfast, concierge service, a workout room, sauna, guest lounge and outdoor hot tub and patio fireplace.
