Discount Tire, a national tire retail chain store, will open two stores in Davenport this year.
Joseph Valdez, a company spokesman, said a store at North Elsie Street and West Kimberly Road, next to Culver’s, is under construction and is expected to open in July.
A second store north of the intersection of East 53rd Street and Elmore Avenue is expected to open in September.
“Each store typically employs eight to 10 people and a store manager,” he said.
He said it is one of the largest independent tire dealers in the United States with more than 850 stores in 25 states. These will be the first two stores in Iowa.
“Actually, they are hopeful they will expand over the years in Iowa,” he said. “They do see Iowa as a place they can grow.”
