The Quad-City Area Realtor Association turned 100 years old this year and has spent the whole year celebrating the milestone.

The association represents 700 real estate agents across the bi-state area. Its year-long observance continues with an event today at 2:30 p.m. at its headquarters, 1900 State St., Bettendorf.

In addition, the association will hold a commemorative ceremony at the annual holiday party on Dec. 7 at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel, Rock Island.

The association’s 2012 chair is Teresa Harris; the 2013 chair will be Eric Ryden.

Now the largest real estate organization in the region, the association traces its roots to a 15-member board founded in 1912. Although the association is the result of a merger of all the area’s individual real estate boards, its longest lineage is the Davenport board which was formally accepted by the National Association of Realtors in 1912.

Today, the association covers the metro Quad-Cities as well as the region, reaching as far as Aledo, Ill., and DeWitt, Iowa.
