Quad-City Regional Auto Show

Auto dealers and guests talk amid the 150 vehicles on display at last year's Quad-City Regional Auto Show at the Davenport RiverCenter. This year's show is Feb. 9-11.

Quad-Citians will be able to imagine the sensation of driving at a NASCAR track thanks to a new offering at this year's Quad-City Regional Auto Show.

The Feb. 9-11 auto show at the Davenport RiverCenter will feature a Toyota NASCAR simulator and auto show visitors can sit at the wheel compliments of the show, said Susan Shrader, the event coordinator.

The 24th annual Quad-City Regional Auto show will showcase more than 150 domestic and import models. Produced by Motor Trend Auto Shows, the nation's largest auto show producer, the Quad-City show will showcase 2018 and some 2019 vehicles. The vehicles are provided by the auto manufacturers and some of the 48 participating auto dealers from across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

"We know there are going to be some very fun cars," said Shrader, who is coordinating her 14th auto show. "The manufacturers bring in some unique cars — cars you won't see on the dealership floor."

The show, among about 20 Motor Trend shows nationwide, is a not-for-profit event with proceeds benefiting the Iowa-Illinois Regional Auto Show Scholarship Fund. To date, it has awarded more than $384,500 in scholarships to college-bound and trade school students.

Shrader said at least $45,000 is expected to be awarded at this year's VIP Premier Event, which kicks off the three-day public show.

One of the shows strengths, she said is it is a non-selling show. "All the people there are marketing specialists. They are a resource for information. There is absolutely no selling."

This year's show also will feature new models such as Clarity, Honda's electric car, GMC's Canyon truck as well as Motor Trend's top picks for 2018. They include Car of the Year Alfa Romeo Giulia; SUV of the Year Honda CR-V; and Truck of the Year Ford F-150.

Other new special events include:

  • Friday, the Quad-City Times Day with special promotions planned.
  • Sunday is 101.3 FM KISS Family Day with family fun events from noon to 4 p.m. Festivities include Niabi Zoo animals, Putnam Museum hands-on experiments, a coloring contest, adoptable pets, balloon artists, a bounce house and cookies and milk for the children.

Each show visitor also can sign up for a free, one-year subscription to Motor Trend Magazine. Free opening day tickets and coupons are available at participating Hy-Vee locations while supplies last.
