With the potential of having as many as 300 new informational technology jobs available in the next few months, Vista International Operations is hosting a career fair next Thursday in the Quad-Cities.

Teresa Johnston, Vista’s communications director, said Vista is awaiting word on a number of  government contracts that could create between 75 to 300 jobs at the Rock Island Arsenal-based company. “We are gearing up to begin work on multiple potential contracts, and may have to fill hundreds of jobs locally and abroad,” she said.

Johnston said Vista’s “very good track record” with past contracts means there is a strong likelihood it will land much of the work.

Vista, which moved its headquarters to the Quad-Cities in September 2011, is a global provider of enterprise-level information technology services, logistics management, and engineering support services to government and private industry. In addition to its U.S. contract work, Vista provides IT and logistics overseas for the U.S. government.

The career fair is scheduled for 1-7 p.m. Thursday at Western Illinois University-Quad-Cities in Moline. Employment opportunity presentations will be held at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. at the campus at 3300 River Drive.

Available Vista positions include call center associate, computer system support specialist, database administrator, LAN administrator, system administrator, web developer, email administrator and application programmer.

Johnston said about 50 to 75 of the jobs will be based out of the Quad-Cities, but there also are openings for positions elsewhere in the United States as well as in places such as Afghanistan and Kuwait. The latter positions have salaries ranging from $100,000 to $190,000. Stateside jobs pay between $45,000 and $95,000. Benefits also are provided.

“Vista has many positions which may need to be filled very quickly,” she said, adding that the company is looking to bring on the additional workers in the next 30 to 60 days.

The company employs 348 employees worldwide, including 108 at its Rock Island Arsenal headquarters. Johnston said the average salary is $64,000 and Vista’s Quad-City payroll has been more than $16 million.

Vista is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bristol Bay Native Corp., which was formed in 1972 as part of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.

The fair also will include jobs with Vista Technical Services, another subsidiary of Bristol Bay Native Corp.
