Von Maur Department Stores, headquartered in Davenport, announced plans Wednesday to open a new store at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines as part of its growth strategy.
The new two-level store will open in the fall of 2022. It will be the second West Des Moines store, the first is located at Valley West Mall. The family-owned department store chain already has 32 stores across 15 states, including stores in Davenport and Moline.
Located near Interstates 80 and 35, Jordan Creek Town Center is one of the largest super-regional malls and lifestyle centers in Iowa.
"Our journey has led us to levels of success my great-grandfather could never have imagined when he started Von Maur," said Jim von Maur, the company's president. "No matter how far we’ve come over those years and the new markets we’ve entered, for myself, our family and our associates, Iowa has always been home."
The new Von Maur store will feature the company’s signature exterior entrance, residential ambiance and an updated floor plan. It also will include including newly redesigned Juniors, Traditional, Contemporary, Shoes, Dresses, Young Men’s, Cosmetics and Lingerie departments.
"The addition of Von Maur to our growing list of tenants is a natural partnership," said Randy Tennison, senior general manager of Jordan Town Center. “Von Maur’s Iowa-based roots showcase how our shopping center is curated to feature the brands and experiences that our community wants."
Von Maur was founded in 1872 in downtown Davenport. In addition to headquarters, it operates a 120,000-square-foot e-commerce facility in north Davenport.
