Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery Christmas Display

Shine on

Davenport Memorial Park shines through the dark, and Christmas, with its annual display of Biblical scenes. The event is in its 47th year, and the 12 displays are in chronological order, with such features as the Town of Bethlehem (above) and the arrival of Three Wise Men (right). Biblical verses have been placed close by the scenes to explain the message portrayed by the figures. As a further means of explaining the display and its purpose, printed pamphlets are distributed annually to 25,000 cars. Thousands of visitors drive through the display each year, which will be lit through Dec. 31. Published, Saturday, Dec. 21, 1991. (Photo by Eric Jakubauskas/Quad-City Times)
