1. Magic show

Fancy a night of tricks on Saturday? Nate Staniforth, an Iowa City-based magician, is starting his one-month residency with weekly performances at the Village Theatre, 2113 E. 11th St., Davenport. The magician will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday. In addition, you can see Staniforth on Jan. 13, 19 and 26. 

2. Harlem Globetrotters

Kick off the first weekend of 2017 with an all-American game of basketball. The Harlem Globetrotters return to the Quad-Cities with plenty of new plays up their sleeves. See the action at 4 p.m. Saturday at the iWireless Center, 1201 River Drive, Moline. 

3. Skeeball league

Looking to try our your skeeball skills? Analog Arcade Bar is launching a league exclusive to the classic arcade game. The competition is slated 7-9 p.m. Mondays at Analog, 302 Brady St., Davenport. Also, be on the lookout for the chance to sign up for a pinball league. For more information, visit

4. Cereus Bright 

If you're a member of the River Music Experience, or RME, you've got a night of free music on tap. If not, this folk show costs $8.50. Either way, you can hear Cereus Bright at 8 p.m. Friday at the Redstone Room, 129 N. Main St., Davenport.

5. Soultru and The Good Company 

Check out the debut of Soultru and The Good Company, a collective of Quad-City musicians who work as back-up for solo musicians and featured artists, this weekend. The show also features Sister Wife, Vagabond Maurice and Harakiri at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Island Brewing Company, 1815 2nd Ave., Rock Island.
