Perhaps the cutest moment of Saturday night's performance of "Peter Pan" at Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse wasn't on stage, but in line for the ladies restroom during the first intermission.

The final scene of the first act features the song, "I'm Flying," where, you guessed it, Peter teaches the Darling children to fly.

Inspired by the scene, several little girls kept jumping in air, hoping that they too, just might take flight.

Cute children in the audience aside, "Peter Pan" was an absolute delight. Scenic designer Susan Holgersson really outdid herself creating the massive and very detailed sets that transported the audience to Neverland. From the murals in the Darling nursery to the forest and underground home of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, to the multi-level pirate ship, each set was very impressive.

The costumes, designed by Gregory Hiatt, were also much more intricate than I expected. The pirates especially stand out in a rainbow of colors with puffy sleeves, big hats and multicolored socks.

While the set and costumes set the scene, the actors bring it home. Brittany Church does an outstanding job as Peter Pan. Her face is full of expression and her voice was full and strong. She especially shines in "I'm Flying."

Tom Walljasper also did a stellar job as Captain Hook. Everything about his delivery is menacing, but in such a way that it is comical enough not to scare the little ones. The large number of children in the cast also were very professional.

Parents and children alike are sure to love the hilariously incompetent pirates, impressive dance sequences and songs that are sure to get stuck in your head.

Adults will get more of a laugh than children at the happy thought that finally gets Michael airborne and the appearance of the final lost boy to be adopted by the Darling family. Animal lovers will also get a kick out of the first appearance of Nana.

"Peter Pan" is not to be missed, especially if you have children.
