1. Winter Live@Five
It's time for another Winter Live@Five, the indoor edition of River Music Experience's free weekly concert series. During Thursday's free show at the Redstone Room, 129 N. Main St., Davenport, you can hear music from the Avey Grouws Band. Music starts at 5 p.m. Thursday.
2. St. Patrick's Day Parade
If you're looking for the official kick-off to celebrating St. Patrick's Day, which falls on Saturday, then look no further than the St. Patrick Society Grand Parade. The nation's only bi-state St. Patrick's parade steps off at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the corner of 4th Avenue and 23rd Street in Rock Island and travels through downtown Rock Island, across the Talbot (Centennial) Bridge to W. Third Street, east through downtown Davenport, ending at the RiverCenter, which will host the post-parade bash 1-4 p.m. For more info, visit stpatsqc.com.
3. Dry Irish Stout tapping
After the parade, Great River Brewery, 332 E 2nd St, Davenport, will offer its own St. Patrick's Day celebration: The tapping of its seasonal Dry Irish Stout starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. The brewery will also be open early Saturday for the parade.
4. REO Speedwagon and Styx
The TaxSlayer Center, formerly the iWireless Center, in Moline will host REO Speedwagon and Styx this weekend. See the rock bands, along with Don Felder, the musician formerly with the Eagles, at 7 p.m. Saturday at the TaxSlayer, 1201 River Drive, Moline. 5. High Up with Whispertown
See High Up, an indie soul band based in Omaha, Nebraska, and fronted by two sisters, and Whispertown, the moniker for folk rock musician Morgan Nagler out of Los Angeles, perform on Sunday at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, 304 E. 3rd St., Davenport. Doors open at 6 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance at raccoonmotel.com.
6. Family fun night
The Putnam Museum is hosting a Family Fun Night ahead of St. Patrick's Day. Activities, which celebrate "all things green, including ways to reduce, reuse and recycle," start at 5 p.m. Friday at the museum, 1717 W 12th St., Davenport. "National Parks Adventure 3D," will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in the movie theater. Activities in the grand lobby will be free to the public.
