1. Food truck fight
Looking to sample some of the area's food trucks? At least nine on-wheels vendors, including The Hot Dog Guy, Los Primos Mexican Grill, Flavor Train and Floyd's Burgers and Sliders are competing in the first-ever Food Truck Fight. The event, also featuring live music and kid-friendly games, is slated for noon-10 p.m. Saturday at the LeClaire Levee. Admission is $5.
2. GRB tapping
Great River Brewery has a brand new brew to show off. The downtown Davenport will tap the Spooner Quad-City Pilsner, and offer live music and a crawfish boil, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at 332 E. 2nd St., Davenport. For more information, visit facebook.com/great.river.brewery.
3. How to make salads
Learn ways to spice up your salads with this cooking class, presented by Hilltop Campus Village Event Center and Greatest Grains. Featured recipes include the rainbow Thai farro salad, mango black bean quinoa salad, lentil and barley-thyme salad and an Israeli cous cous salad with chopped vegetables. 4. Miles and beers
Want to mix a 1-mile race with some brews? The fourth annual Micro Brew Mile Craft Beer Festival is for you. The fest, which features samples from over 40 breweries, free appetizers from Q-C restaurants, live music and road races, is set for 4-8 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the intersection of 5th Avenue and 14th Street in downtown Moline. 5. Macaroons and martinis
Two downtown Davenport businesses are teaming up for a treat-filled event, a martini and macaroon pairing. Me & Billy and Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie will offer three courses of martinis paired with macaroons at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15 at Me & Billy, 200 W. 3rd St., Davenport. 6. Cooking challenge for teens
The Teen Iron Chef Challenge returns to the Rock Island Public Library this week. Participants ages 12-18 will prepare a snack with mystery ingredients provided and judges will decide who wins. The event is set for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Rock Island Public Library, 401 19th St., Rock Island.
