Oh So Sweet

Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie, a bakery in downtown Davenport, is hosting a cookie decorating class this week.

Happy December, foodies! This month's calendar is full of holiday-themed food and drink to-dos and I rounded up a few of them for you (hint: there's a few chances to decorate cookies for Santa). Read on for six foodie things to do in December around the Quad-Cities and get in the festive spirit via festive eats.

1. Vanilla Porter tapping

Great River Brewery is tapping one of its exclusive brews this weekend. Head out to the brewery, 332 E. 2nd St., Davenport, for a sample of the Vanilla Porter, described as a full-bodied porter with hints of coffee, cocoa and caramel. Food will be available, courtesy of The Cushman Collective, a Davenport-based vendor. Also, the tapping party will feature a cookie contest. Bake and bring your favorite cookies and the winner receive a free growler of Vanilla Porter. The event starts at 1 p.m. Saturday.

2. Holiday cookie decorating class

If you've walked in Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie recently, then you've seen an array of cookies decorated to look like snow globes, Santa's full belly, festive sweaters or an overflowing mug of hot cocoa. This week, you can learn how to decorate cookies just like that. The bakery in downtown Davenport is hosting a holiday cookie decorating class starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7  at 14 N. Main St., Davenport, featuring step-by-step instructions from bakery owner Tiphanie Cannon. Tickets for the two-hour course cost $50 and are available at Eventbrite.com. 3. Yoga, beer, pajamas

Tippi Yogis, a yoga practice that travels to area pubs, is holding its second annual holiday pajama party later this month. So, don your coziest pajamas and get ready for yoga with beer or wine nearby. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 at Front Street Taproom, 421 W. River Drive, Davenport. Cost is $10.
