Happy March, foodies. With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, there will be plenty of chances to fill up on corned beef, cabbage and green beer. And that's not all for food and drink to-dos. Here are six foodie events coming up this month.
1. Fondue Friday
The Mississippi River Distilling Company is teaming up with the Faithful Pilot Cafe & Spirits to host Fondue Friday, set for 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the distillery, 303 N Cody Rd., LeClaire. For $20, sample four different fondues prepared by the Faithful Pilot and enjoy a cocktail.
2. Endless Brews 2nd anniversary
Endless Brews, the beer bar in downtown Davenport, is celebrating its second anniversary this weekend. Festivities start at 4 p.m. Thursday at Endless Brews, 310 Main St., Davenport. There will be giveaways, beer-infused and inspired food via The Crepe Guy and more.
3. Wine with Einstein
Ever wanted to taste wine with Einstein? Enjoy an hour of wine tasting, snacks and the company of Duffy Hudson, an actor who portrays Albert Einstein, this weekend at the German American Heritage Center, 712 W. 2nd St., Davenport. The event starts at 6 p.m. and costs $20 for members and $25 for non-members. For more info, visit gahc.org.
4. Kids in the kitchen
The theme this month is Dr. Suess for Hy-Vee's Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes. Dietitian Heather Kearney will lead the class, open to kids ages 4-10, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hy-Vee, 2351 W. Locust St., Davenport. Recipes include Thing 1 Thing 2 Chia Pudding, Dr. Seuss Punch, Cat in the Hat Fruit Kabobs and One Fish Two Fish Trail Mix. The cost is $10 per child. Register on hy-vee.com.
5. St. Patrick's day feast at Front Street Brewery
Dan Kelly, owner of the now-closed Kelly's Irish Pub & Eatery, is teaming up with Front Street Brewery to host a St. Patrick's Day festival, set for March 16-17. Festivities, including plenty of Irish fare and green beer and live music, will take over the Freight House parking lot in downtown Davenport.
6. St. Patrick's Day cookie decorating class
Oh So Sweet is hosting a cookie decorating class to get you ready for St. Patrick's Day. The class is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the bakery, 314 N. Main St., Davenport. Over two hours, Tiphanie Cannon, the owner of Oh So Sweet, will take you step by step through the process of decorating a variety of cookies. Class costs $50 per participant.
