Irish beer tapping

Irish beer tapping

St. Patrick's Day is less than two weeks ago, which means it's time to start thinking about Irish beer. Great River Brewery, 332 E. 2nd St., Davenport, is hosting its monthly tapping party, featuring the Dry Irish Stout, set for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the brewery, which will open early that day for the St. Patrick Society Grand Parade. If you haven't noticed, there's a lot of places to grab a beer in the Quad-Cities. And not just one of those boring, mainstream brews that you could find at any grocery store or gas station.

Look around and you'll find beers that have a unique quality about them — beers and breweries with stories behind them. There are beers infused with peanut butter, chocolate or coffee flavors. There are extra-hoppy or super-dark beers and wheat beers that almost taste like lemon bread. Some brands you could only otherwise find in California or Germany, and some are brewed right down the street from you, artfully made by Q-C natives and the neighbors you rub shoulders with.

Seriously, the list goes on and on. And the Q-C beer scene is always growing.

So when you're in the beer-drinking or beer-tasting mood, how will you decide where to go? That's where this map comes in.
