The Captain's Table in Moline, a longtime Quad-City restaurant that closed its doors in January, plans to reopen by July 1.

"We're remodeling it, basically, and trying to give it a facelift to bring it back to life," Rod Teel, a managing partner in the business, said. "It died a slow death."

The reopened restaurant, which still will be called the Captain's Table, will be managed by "Food Guru" Peter Harman, a popular chef who has been featured on KWQC-TV, Teel said.

Meanwhile, the future of Kernan's Riverview Restaurant in Princeton, Iowa, which was purchased two years ago by Doug May, is still up in the air.

"Right now, we're looking at different ideas on how to handle it," May said. "The building needs to be gutted out. We're trying to decide the best way to develop it."

He said the former restaurant may or may not reopen as a place to eat. "We want the best return on our investment."

Kernan's had been a family restaurant for more than 50 years.
