Rock Island’s historic Abbey Station is open for Sunday brunch only twice a year, but the staff goes all out for Easter and Mother’s Day, Evelyn Healy says.
“We’ve got a lot of repeats and a lot of new (customers). And a lot of people don’t even know we exist here,” said Healy who, along with her husband, Bill, operates Bridges Catering, which supplies the food and service to the Abbey, a elegantly restored train depot with 35-foot-high ceilings. The Healys have 35 years of catering experience, she said.
Owner Joe Lemon subcontracted with Bridges to provide catering after the Abbey Hotel closed its kitchen to the public.
