Bob Dorr

Bob Dorr, who started the Blue Band in 1981, has deep roots in Davenport. He went to Davenport Central High School and started his first band, called Tortoise and  the Hair, here in 1965. He now lives in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

1. Christmas with Elvis

If you're an Elvis fan, this Christmas concert is for you. "Blue Christmas: A Rock 'n' Roll Holiday Extravaganza," featuring Robert Shaw and the Lonely Street Band, is set for this week at the Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse, 1828 3rd Ave., Rock Island. Hear holiday tunes and other top hits made famous by Elvis Presley. For the matinee, lunch will be served at noon and the show will start at 1 p.m. For the evening performance, the buffet will be served at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7:15 p.m. For tickets, call 309-786-7733. Tickets cost $46.50-52.25. 

2. Bob Dorr and the Blue Band

Bob Dorr and the Blue Band will play their final show in the Quad-Cities this week. Dorr, a Iowa rock ‘n’ roll hall of famer based in Cedar Falls, has been performing the blues for 36 years. The Mississippi Valley Blues Society and the River Music Experience are partnering to bring Dorr and his backing band here for the last time, as the frontman has announced the end of the band's touring schedule. The show is set for 8 p.m. Saturday at the Redstone Room, 129 Main St., Davenport. Tickets are $12 in advance of the $15 day of.
