She got to travel throughout Asia for a year with Disney Live, but now Tabitha Jones is glad to be coming home, in more ways than one.

The 2000 Davenport West graduate is the dance captain for Disney Live's North American tour, "Rockin' Road Show," which plays two performances at the i wireless Center in Moline on Friday.

"My friends and family will be able to see something that I do because they can't fly to Asia," Jones, 27, said in a telephone interview from Phoenix.

As dance captain, she oversees 15 dancers and has to know every minute of the show and its choreography, as well as teaching it to newcomers and logging all of the dance activity in each show.

"Sometimes it can be hard and the hours can be long, but it's a fun new position to try," she said.

In "Rockin' Road Show," Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy try to recruit characters from various Disney favorites for a talent show that takes place in the second act.

The styles of choreography vary, Jones said, from a hoedown during a "Toy Story" number to an elegant waltz for "Cinderella." There's also an audience participation that allows the youngsters in the crowd a chance to bounce around and have fun.

Disney Live is similar to Disney on Ice - which returns for eight performances at the i wireless Center in early December - but it's not quite as elaborate as the skating show.

"It's a little smaller because it's more theater-based, but it's still the same premise of putting on a good show and introducing the characters, and having fun and dance involved," Jones said.

The shows have run smoothly so far, she said, except for the time she tripped over her costume dress while onstage.

"That's going to happen," she said. "You just have to roll with the flow, keep it happening and keep it going."

Jones said she will likely return to another Disney tour next season.

"I get paid to perform and tour all over," she said. "I'll take it as it comes and see what lies ahead in my future."
