River Roots Live, the combined Quad-City music and ribs festival, has announced its 2009 lineup of bands, led by classic rockers The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Blue Oyster Cult.
The fifth annual event will take place Aug. 21-22 on 2nd Street between Brady and Ripley streets, officials with DavenportOne said this morning.
Admission will continue to be free. More than 20,000 people attended last year.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds are known best for their popular single "Tuff Enough," and Blue Oyster Cult is famous for such hits as "Don't Fear the Reaper" and "Burnin' for You." Filling out the top of the bill is world-renowned blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa, who is returning for his second year in a row.
Additional bands scheduled to perform include The Nadas and Backyard Tire Fire, as well as up-and-coming artists Public Property and the Dick Prall Band. The festival also will feature a host of the Quad-City area's best artists such as Ellis Kell, Sara Angelique, the Andrew Landers Project, Rude Punch and more.
Complete details about new aspects of the festival will be released soon. For the full band lineup, visit www.RiverRootsLive.com on the Web.
