Millz Pizza

Millz Pizza & Grille on West Kimberly Road near Division Street has announced that they are closing, effective Jan. 23.

The owners of the New Mandarin in Moline used a note on the door to tell customers the restaurant no longer is in business. Posted on the front door of the Chinese restaurant at 4808 27th St. is the following: "I am sorry to say that we are permanently closed. We are very proud to have served the Quad-Cities for 38 years. We will really miss all of you and wish you the best!"
The phone number for New Mandarin no longer is in service, and the owners could not be located for comment.
Rock Island County records show the property was purchased by Jimmy Wang and Allison Lai in October 1987. The restaurant was built in 1989.

Kelly's Irish Pub and Eatery's website has displayed a countdown to St. Patrick's Day since, well, the day after St. Patrick's Day in 2016. The pub's St. Patrick's Day Festival returns for its 13th year with festivities, including on-special plates of corned beef and cabbage and pints of beer, set for 5-11:30 p.m. Friday, March 17, and 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday March 18, at 2222 E. 53rd St., Davenport. The main dining room at the Plantation restaurant was located just past the lobby. It was flanked by two other dining rooms, the Fleur-de-lis and the Library.

Buck said his favorite meal was prime rib and Buck's potatoes, named after him. He asked for hash browns with green pepper, onions and cheese. The next time menus were printed, he saw "Buck's Potatoes."
