My beat here may be entertainment for teens through 30-somethings, but that doesn’t keep me from having a guilty pleasure that usually is found in women a few decades older than those age groups. I love watching “All My Children,” the long-running soap opera on ABC-TV.
Rule No. 1 will not play during the rescheduled Go&Do Live Sessions Tuesday night at Mojo’s Cafe in downtown Davenport.
The Go&Do Live Sessions are back next week. We have three bands booked for Tuesday, Jan. 6, as a make-up show for the second day of the December event, which was postponed because of — big surprise — inclement weather.
To view three additional songs from each of the December Go&Do Live Sessions bands go to qctimes.tv and click on the Live Sessions B-side option under the "Browse" tab.
Head Held High is a band of troopers. Not only are they here on this blustery night, but over the summer I caught one of their shows in which Jeff Loder rocked out all over the stage just three days after abdominal surgery.
Cover band Cosmic’s repertoire crosses the decades as the five-piece band’s range spans from the 70’s to today's hits. At the December Go&Do Live Sessions Cosmic performed “Roam,” “My Favorite Mistake,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Boogie Oogie” and “Bad Case of Loving You.”
Huge Hefner is fronted by two female lead singers with powerful voices. The band covers hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s, performing “Tubthumping,” “Blister in the Sun,” “Walk Like an Egyptian,” “We Got the Beat,” “Smooth Criminal” and “Immigrant Song” at the December Go&Do Live Sessions.
Keep Off the Grass originally got together in 1985, but it took several years off before getting back together about a year-and-a-half ago.
The Kaps describe themselves as performers of a type of rap music the Quad-Cities isn’t used to seeing and hearing. They perform a mix of club and party songs, with lyrical raps and, of course, R&B and rap tracks.
I was very thankful that I ran out of time to peruse thrift stores this weekend for a hideous ugly sweater because nobody wore one to the A Very Sexy X-Mas party featuring and Ugly Sweater Party at Nan’s Piano Bar on Tuesday night.
By 4:30 p.m., about 20 teens had filled two boxes and a large grocery bag with canned goods and nonperishable foods during the XMess Fest at Mixtapes in East Moline.
The Circle Tap on West Locust Street on Davenport’s west side was featured as a “$10 or less” spot in this week’s Go&Do section. Check out the Web links to read the story and watch the video on the well-established bar and grill.
Oh, the Ugly Sweater Christmas Party. It’s that time of year when you bring out the sweater your grandmother got you but you never wore because it has a three-dimensional reindeer on the front or is so busy it makes your eyes want to scream.
I’m really trying to avoid sounding like a broken record, but there is yet another reason to go see Daytrotter Presents shows.
The District was dead in the early evening hours of Saturday except for RIBCO, which welcomed a healthy crowd to the Love Is All and Crystal Stilts performances.
Want to go see live music tonight but can’t afford the cover? RIBCO has a solution that means more green for the environment — and your wallet.
The Uniphonics emcee Derek “Animosity” Thorn must have one heck of a lung capacity. The lyricist spit out rhyme after rhyme at speeds that would make a stenographer blush during their show at RIBCO last Friday.
The Go&Do Live Sessions at Mojo’s Cafe scheduled for tonight has been postponed because of inclement weather.
Thankfully the weather, which didn’t turn out to be as bad as predicted, didn’t stop folks from coming out to support local music at Monday’s Go&Do Live Sessions.
If you’ve enjoyed watching the music videos from the first round of Go&Do Live Sessions, the Quad-City Times online team has loaded the rest of the performance onto qctimes.tv.
