Keith Blake, who farms more than 300 acres northwest of Davenport, said his corn crop hasn’t been affected greatly by the lack of rain this year. “We have excellent rich black soil that holds the moisture,” he said. “But we got hit by a bad windstorm in July that knocked down a lot of corn.” Blake was cutting the damaged corn for silage Wednesday.
