2016-17 season: 10-16, 1-4 in Big Six (fourth)
Impact wrestlers: John West, sr., 195 (sectional qualifier); Ryan O’Hern, sr., 170; Alec Carton, sr., 160; Nick Lange, jr., 138; Kevin Hughes, so., 126-132; Zach Pinc, jr., 182
Fresh faces: Gage Mowry, fr., 106; Billy Taylor, fr., 113; David Dierickx, fr., 120; Ian Snider, fr. 126; Jack Patting, fr., 132; Eli Denton, fr., 220 or 285
Back points: Alleman coach James Ealy loves the mix of upperclassmen, led by sectional qualifier John West and Ryan O’Hern, and talented freshmen. Despite the loss of sectional qualifier Sam Terronez (126) to a torn ACL in the summer, Ealy believes the Pioneers can be competitive in possibly every dual meet and could finish third in conference.
2016-17 season: 22-5, 5-0 (first)
Impact wrestlers: Isaiah Tapia, sr., 106 (27-10); Ellex Williams, sr., 120 (30-19, sectional qualifier); Isaac Martinez, jr., 126 (28-17, sectional qualifier); Grant Ohlsen, sr., 138 (30-12, sectional qualifier); Jayden Terronez, jr., 152 (33-19, sectional qualifier); Hunter Henning, sr., 195 (27-17, sectional qualifier)
Fresh faces: D.J. Parker, so., 160; Jonathan McMillion, so., 160; Hunter Hotchkiss, sr., 170.
Back points: Maroons have a new coach in Jacob Ruettiger, but most coaches believe the Maroons are the favorites to win their fifth straight conference title. The Maroons, including Ruettiger, want more than that. Stated goals are having some state qualifiers and returning from state with some hardware.
2016-17 season: 4-1 Big Six (second)
Impact wrestlers: Victor Guzman, so., 132; Michael Myers, jr., 120; Alex Gant, sr., 145
Fresh faces: Trevor Dennis, jr., 106; Zaire Yusuf, jr., 126
Back points: The young Rock Island squad is expected to have three forfeits in middle/upper weights every match. With mostly freshmen and sophomores, the goal is to build the team for the next two years.
Last year: 10-7, 3-2 (third)
Impact wrestlers: Jack Yeleneke, jr., 195; Trevelle Teague, sr., 120; Logan Golding, jr., 132; Cade Harris, jr., 170; Peter Stopolous, sr., 152
Fresh faces: Trevor Lannoo, fr., 106; Simon Wilson, fr., 285
Back points: Coach Lambros Fotos is a hard read. He first says the Panthers' main goal is to survive, that the team must grow a lot more, but then he says if that happens and returnees build off of last year, the Panthers could be pretty tough. His goal is to compete with Moline for the title.
