BAYSIDE, Texas\u00a0\u2014 William \u201cBill\u201d D. Carlin, 71, of Bayside,\u00a0Texas, died unexpectedly Friday June 16, 2017, at his home from a heart attack. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be in Iowa at a later date.

Bill was born April 11, 1946, in Davenport to John and Jean Frye Carlin. He grew up on the family farm, moving to Maysville with his family, graduated from North Scott High School in 1964 and attended St. Ambrose College. Bill enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and was stationed in Norfolk, Va. He married Susan McCallister in 1971. They made their home in the Davenport area and also ran the Donahue Tavern for many years. They moved to Colorado and then on to their final home in San Antonio, Texas, with a getaway place on the Gulf of Mexico where they enjoyed their retirement and lots of fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; daughter, Heather (Cory Fiddelke) Carlin and Eric (Wanda) Carlin; grandchildren, Brittney (Robert) and Trever Burden; great- grandchildren, Kaydence and newest, Nicoli; brother, John (Bev) Carlin and sister, Jeannette (Denis) Mahony. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Greig and Tim Carlin.

POCAHONTAS, Ark.\u00a0\u2014 Dorothea Margaret Dunagan Runge passed away peacefully June 15, 2017, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She was born\u00a0January 7, 1922, in Ames, Iowa. She was the elder daughter of Walter M. and Dorothea Porterfield Dunagan. Her father was a professor of Civil Engineering at Iowa State College in Ames. An excellent student, Dorothea graduated with honors from Ames High School and Iowa State College, studying history and journalism. She participated in theater and wrote for the college newspaper. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and PEO. Upon graduation she went to work for the Des Moines Register editing the Sunday Women\u2019s section.

Recruited for the newly formed Office of War Information, she went to New York City for the duration of World War II in service to our country. In 1946 she married Major William M. Runge of Davenport, Iowa. The marriage produced three sons. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and the Episcopal Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher. She served as a Cub scout leader, integrating her troop in Davenport in the early '50s. She later went on to work as a public school teacher.

Education had the highest priority in her life.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her son, Martin L. Runge. She is survived by her other two sons, Walter M. Runge of Lampasas, Texas, and James P. Runge of Independence, Kansas; six grandchildren; and\u00a010 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at the Iowa State University Cemetery.

BETTENDORF \u2014 Donald P. \u201cButch\u201d McCoy, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Davenport.

He was born in Bettendorf on November 10, 1936, the son of John Joseph and Elvia Leatha (Welch) McCoy. Following his graduation from Bettendorf High School, Donald served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Special Forces during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

In 1982, he was united in marriage to Carol D. Grobmann in Miami, Florida. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2016.

Donald worked for many years at the former Plaza Bowl North in Bettendorf and enjoyed retirement years in Florida. During his spare time, he loved bowling and was an avid fan of NASCAR.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Becky McCoy in California, Reesa (James) Staten in California, Michelle Watkins in Florida, Margaret (Willie) Fonticiella in Florida, Nicole (Lucas Lenane) Aubin of Bettendorf, Bill Sebolt in Florida, Gary Aubin in Florida and Jeff (Therese) Aubin in Florida;\u00a011 \u00a0grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities.

AURORA, Ill. \u2014 Michael E. Haliburton,\u00a068, of Aurora,\u00a0Ill., passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 6:21 p.m. at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 7, 1949, in East Moline to Bennie and Mary Milburn Haliburton. He married Geri Churilla on Aug. 25, 1969.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Geri Haliburton of Peoria; one daughter, Heather Haliburton of Peoria; one son, Justin Haliburton of Peoria;, two grandsons, Hunter and Ethan; two brothers, Houston Brown of Galesburg, Bernard Haliburton of Rock Island; one sister, Nona Haliburton of Laguna Miquel, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was currently working at AID Behavioral Health Services in Aurora.

Funeral services will be 11\u00a0a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. Pastor Rebecca Klemm will officiate.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to an education fund for Michael\u2019s grandsons set up through the family.

DAVENPORT\u00a0\u2014 \u00a0Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for John R. \u201cJack\u201d Wampfler, 93, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1923 N. Fillmore St., Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m.\u00a0Friday\u00a0at Halligan-McCabe-Devries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. Jack was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

John Raymond Wampfler was born January 20, 1924, in Grand Mound, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Margaret (Moore) Wampfler. Jack was united in marriage to Frances Schinckel on May 4, 1946; Frances died January 30, 1983. Jack owned Wampfler Conoco in downtown Davenport for many years.

Jack was a member of Holy Family Church, Polka Club of Iowa and the former German American Pioneer Society. He held many positions for the Iowa State Polka Club and was inducted into the Polka Club Hall of Fame. Jack was a generous volunteer. He enjoyed sharing his love of dancing with many area nursing home residents. His generosity was further made evident at Camp Conestoga Girl Scout Camp where a dining hall was named Wampfler Lodge in his honor.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim O\u2019Brien, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Mike (Monica) O\u2019Brien, Brookfield, Wisconsin, Kelly O\u2019Brien, Iowa City, Iowa, Katie O\u2019Brien, St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Ella and Gemma O\u2019Brien; his siblings, Mary Feuerbach, Ponce Inlet, Florida, Margaret Hansen, Rochester, Minn., and Joseph Wampfler, Eldridge, Iowa.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; special friends, Margaret Ewert and Carol Conyers; his siblings, Winston Wampfler and Elaine Raney; brothers-in-law, Bill Raney, Carroll Feuerbach and Gene Hansen; a nephew, Greg Raney; and a niece, Mary Fredericksen.

Memorials can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, All Saints School, or Polka Club of Iowa, Eastern Chapter.

BUFFALO\u00a0\u2014 Bonnie A. Remley, 54, a resident of Buffalo, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. A celebration of Bonnie\u2019s life will be held Sunday June 25, from 1-3 p.m. at the Buffalo Community Center, 426 Clark St., Buffalo.

Bonnie Ann Vrana was born on September 27, 1962, in Davenport, a daughter of Gordon D. and Charleen E. (Ryan) Vrana. She was united in marriage to Steven A. Remley on November 27, 1992, in Davenport.

Bonnie was a steadfast and determined individual, never giving up on something she wanted to do no matter the challenge. She worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver. She also had worked for a parking lot striping company and as a receptionist in a physician\u2019s office.

Bonnie adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially took great pride in raising her two boys. She was very active in their everyday lives. Along with volunteering at numerous school functions, she attended sporting events and other activities they enjoyed growing up. She loved helping others and would go out of her way to help anyone who needed it.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Steve, Buffalo, sons, Cody Remley, Durant,\u00a0and Kevin Remley, Buffalo; grandson, Caden; mother, Charleen (Dan) Raney, Buffalo; father, Gordon (Judy) Vrana, Sherrard; brothers, Vincent D. (Christine) Vrana, Davenport, Daniel Vrana, Buffalo, and Gordon W. (Kimberly) Vrana, Davenport; mother-in-law, Audrey Remley; sisters-in-law, Linda Mullanack, Buffalo, and Laura (Mike) Adams, Bondurant, Iowa,\u00a0and many nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate her life will be 5 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her son, Dillon Knapp.

She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 14, 1975.

Denise was a people person who loved her family, her many friends, enjoyed all types outdoor activities and her beloved canine companions.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Dillon (Tina) Knapp of Camanche; her step-children, Alexandra Haessler of LeClaire and Duane Haessler of LeClaire; her mother and step-father, Lois and Eddie Brewster of Walcott, Iowa; her sisters, Michelle (Justin) Gilbert of Des Moines, Iowa, and Patricia Shea of Des Moines; her brother, Walter (Sarah) Hamann of Platteville, Wisconsin; and her fianc\u00e9, Steve Haessler of Camanche.
