The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Club Inc. is offering tips on how to avoid tempting treats at Halloween.
Among the tips:
* Buy treats that aren't so enticing. If chocolate is a food trigger, buy only gummy treats or small boxes of raisins to distribute to trick-or-treaters.
* Remove excess candy corn and other sweets immediately after trick-or-treat hours end. Give those treats to a food pantry, homeless shelter, or, if necessary, toss the surplus candy in the garbage.
* Remmber that Halloween treats can include nonfood items such as stickers, bubbles, pencils, pennies and colorful shoelaces.
