Few things are as comforting as a perfectly spiced bowl of yellow curry or a generous plate of pad thai. If dinner with a group of friends at your local Thai spot is your idea of a good time, you aren't alone -- a recent survey found that Thai food is among the top 10 most popular ethnic foods in America.
Like any culinary adventure, quality will differ greatly among restaurants and locations. To determine the best places for Thai food in the U.S., the data geeks at FindTheHome, a real estate intelligence site powered by Graphiq, turned to Yelp to create a Thai Food Score.
The score considers the number of Thai restaurants in a city, the percentage of Thai eateries rated with four or more stars (out of a possible five stars) and the average Yelp rating of Thai spots compared to the average rating of all restaurants in the city. Ties are broken first by the average rating of Thai restaurants, then by the number of Thai places with four or more stars. The ranking takes into account restaurants tagged as "Thai" on Yelp, and looks at cities with at least 100,000 people.
Whether you crave a warm bowl of tom yum soup or a helping of basil fried rice, one of these cities is sure to deliver.
