Accomplished Quad-City bicyclist Chuck Oestrich will hold a pair of signings for his new mystery novel, "Bicycle Moon."

Oestrich, of Rock Island, and a former Rock Island High School teacher, will sign from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at The Book Rack, 4764 Elmore Ave., Davenport. He will do a signing at the same time July 13 at The Book Rack's Moline location, 3937 41st Ave. Drive.

The book is about bike touring, but the hero is not touring for fun or recreation. Someone is after him. So, he pedals through mid-America, stopping and meeting various people along the way — some on bike tours — before being drawn to a small Iowa town at the finish.

“Bicycle Moon” is published by Createspace and available at The Book Rack and at Amazon.com as a paperback and as an e-book on Kindle.

Oestreich has participated in many extended bike tours around America, including a cross-country tour from California to Florida. He is secretary of the League of Illinois Bicyclists and the chairman of the multi-day Grand Illinois Trail And Parks ride.
