It's not uncommon these days to have technology dictate fashion. So, it should come as no surprise that you can spend $33 on a pair of gloves with four digits missing.
The Etre Touchy gloves are - in the manufacturer's words, not ours - "a fun way to keep your hands warm."
And isn't that what it's all about? You know, staying warm and having fun.
Their purpose does make sense, though.
With your forefinger and thumb exposed on each hand, it's easier to operate mobile phones, music players, portable game systems, cameras and other electronic devices. Product photos also show shoe-tying made easier along with eating cookies, using chopsticks and fishing.
From the manufacturer:
"Their missing thumb and index fingertips allowing you to touch, tap, stroke, slide and pinch these devices' displays in any way you desire - a facet of their design that is particularly important when interacting with touch-screen devices like the iPhone and iPod Touch since their capacitive touch-screen technology means that they only respond to your bare-naked fingertips."
That's right. Bare. Naked. Fingertips.
The gloves are made from 100 percent lambs wool and available in four different sizes - men's, women's, youth and children's - and in four different color combinations.
