A free program with information on bicycling will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Davenport Public Library-Eastern Avenue Branch, 6000 Eastern Ave., sponsored by the Quad-Cities Bicycle Club.
Talks and demonstrations will cover training advice, safety tips, bike maintenance demonstrations and logistics for RAGBRAI, the Des Moines Register's Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa that will be July 22-28, and TOMRV, or Tour of the Mississippi River Valley, a ride sponsored by the bicycle club that will be June 9-10.
There also will be:
• Information on how to do self-contained touring
• Information on Ride the River, the annual Father's Day ride sponsored by River Action Inc.
• A slide show
• A talk by Chuck Oestreich, a Rock Island author and cycling advocate
• T-shirt drawings
• RAGBRAI for Rookies, with detailed information on how to prepare for the ride, the logistics of getting to the start and accommodations along the route.
