Tour de Brew Q-C

WHEN: 10 a.m. today

WHERE: The fourth annual ride begins at Rock Island Brewing Company, 1815 2nd Ave., Rock Island.

DETAILS: Interested participants can register online at The 35-mile ride costs $43.19. Proceeds will benefit three cancer charities: Camp Kesem at Augustana College, the LIVESTRONG Foundation and Living Proof Exhibit, which is based in the Quad-Cities.

Wildflower hikes

WHEN: 2:30 p.m. today; 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13 

WHERE: Mississippi Palisades State Park, 16327A IL-84, Savanna, Illinois; Wapsi River Center, 31555 52nd Ave., Dixon, Iowa 

DETAILS: Explore the park's trails and high bluffs over the Mississippi River with members of the Black Hawk Hiking Club. Organizers expect to see a spectacular display of wildflowers, such as shooting stars, white and pink trillium, columbine and bluebells. New trail opening

WHEN: 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 7

WHERE: Dorrance Forest Preserve, 401 Agnes St., Port Byron

DETAILS: Ribbon cutting ceremony for the 1.6-mile, volunteer-built trail begins at 10 a.m.; group rides and hikes begin at 10:30 a.m. The Upper Rock Island County Recreation Association will be serving burgers, brats and other items for lunch beginning at 10 a.m. Bring cash.

Bicycle commuting/transportation workshop

WHEN: Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 10

WHERE: Wundram Auditorium, Quad-City Times, 500 E. 3rd St., Davenport
