Trout release

Spectators and anxious anglers watch as Iowa DNR officials release 2,000 trout from a truck at West Lake Park near Davenport, one of 17 urban sites across the state to be stocked this fall.

Later this month, two bodies of water in the Quad-Cities will be stocked with trout.

At noon Friday, March 24, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will release 2,000 rainbow trout into Lake of the Hills at West Lake Park, 14910 110th Ave., Davenport.

In Illinois, the spring trout season begins at 5 a.m. Saturday, April 1. The DNR will stock the pond at Prospect Park on 30th Avenue in Moline sometime before then.

Meanwhile, Illinois hunting and fishing licenses for 2016 expire March 31. Anglers and hunters can purchase new licenses for 2017 online at www.dnr.illinois.gov or at specific vendors listed at bit.ly/2m2dxro.
