The Muscatine boys soccer team found itself at a one-goal deficit in the second half Thursday against Davenport Central.

Central expanded its lead and never looked back.

Powered by a strong second half with three unanswered goals, the Blue Devils ran past Muscatine 6-2 at Brady Street Stadium.

"I just don't think it was one of our best games. We didn't play a complete game," Muscatine head coach Jose Varela said. "We lacked focus and we weren't up to it. Kind of disappointing."

It was a good start for the Muskies as Logan Nugent started off the scoring in the first half on a cross from Matthew Joseph. Central responded with three goals in a row.

Eddie Treiber got Muscatine (9-7, 4-5 MAC) back within one on a goal from 25 yards out before Central put in the nail in the coffin.

"Lack of execution," Varela said. "We were giving them big open areas in the midfield, we were giving them time to turn. Things we normally don't do, we did today."
