Who is in the news?
DeAnna Marguglio, daughter of Dr. Vard and Sharon Marguglio, Davenport, received the Outstanding Sophomore Award at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was honored for dedication to campus involvement and leadership within her class. She has been a residence assistant and active in Alpha Sigma Alpha, Chemistry Club, Pre-Health Club, Environmental Club, Triathlon Club, swimming and diving, track and field, band and orchestra.
She is a 2009 graduate of Davenport Central High School.
Amanda Burgess of East Moline was selected to receive a 2011 W.K. Kellogg Foundation Woodrow Wilson Michigan Teaching Fellowship.
The 2007 graduate of
Augustana College, majoring in biology, is a quality-control laboratory technician.
She will receive a $30,000 stipend to complete a special intensive master's program at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti. Every Fellow makes a commitment to teach at least three years in a high-need urban or rural school in
Michigan.
