Good evening, Quad-Cities. Here is your National Weather Service forecast.

Here is a look at area river levels:

The Mississippi River at Lock and Dam 15 in Rock Island was at 17.48 feet this morning. Flood stage is 15 feet. The river is forecast to reach 19.7 feet by 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Mississippi River at LeClaire, Iowa, was at 11.42 feet this morning. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river is forecast to reach 12.3 feet by 7 a.m. Sunday.

The Mississippi River at Muscatine was at 18.8 feet this morning. Flood stage is 16 feet. The river is expected to reach 21.6 feet by 7 p.m. Monday.

The Mississippi River at Illinois City was at 17.21 feet this morning. Flood stage is 15 feet. The river is expected to reach 20 feet by 1 a.m. Monday.

The Rock River at Moline was at 14.48 feet this morning. Flood stage is 12 feet. The river is forecast to reach 16.3 feet by 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Rock River at Joslin, Ill., was at 16.44 feet this morning. Flood stage is 12 feet. The river is forecast to reach 19.1 feet by 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Wapsipinicon River near DeWitt, Iowa, was at 13.61 feet this morning. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river was forecast to remain at 13.61 feet until at least 1 p.m. today.

Yep, that trace of white stuff being seen by keen eyes around the Q-C this morning was snow.

Tonight there is a 10 percent chance of snow showers before 7 p.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy then gradually becoming mostly clear. The low will be around 30 degrees. West winds will be at 15-20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph. Winds will decrease to 5-10 mph by midnight.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 51 degrees. West winds will be around 5 mph.

Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 37 degrees.


EARLIER REPORT: A good Friday morning, Quad-Cities. It's a chilly 35 degrees and breezy in the region. Factor in the wind chill, you're talking about temps feeling like the lower 20s.

Scattered rain and snow showers — yes snow showers — as possible before 4 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

The day will be cloudy and breezy with a high near 44 degrees. Winds will be from the west at 20 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 29 degrees. It will be blustery with a northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.


Sudden spring flood might get capped by snow

EARLIER REPORT: Good evening, Quad-Cities. There's nothing like a little snow to top off a day of flooding. 

Wait, what?

Yes, tonight's rain showers could turn into snow showers overnight as the  low drops to around 34. 

The chance of snow continues Friday until 1 p.m. It will also be cloudy, breezy and rainy (when it's not snowing) with a high near 43. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

The National Weather Service reports that 3.14 inches of rain fell in Davenport and 2.06 inches in Moline in a 24-hour period between Wednesday and Friday.

Here's the news on the river front.

• The Mississippi River at Lock and Dam 15 in Rock Island was at 16.5 feet this morning. Flood stage is 15 feet. The river is forecast to reach 20.2 feet by 7 p.m. Sunday.

• The Mississippi River at Clinton, Iowa, was at 15 feet this morning. Flood stage is 16 feet. The river is forecast to reach 16.9 feet by 1 p.m. Saturday.

• The Rock River near Moline was at 13.72 feet this morning. Flood stage is 12 feet. The river is forecast to reach a near record of 16.3 feet by 7 p.m. Sunday.

• The Green River near Geneseo, Ill., was at 17.48 feet this morning. Flood stage is 15 feet. The river is forecast to reach a near record of 18.94 feet by 7 p.m. Friday.

• The Wapsipinicon River near DeWitt, Iowa, was at 12.81 feet this morning. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river is forecast to reach 13.3 feet by 7 a.m. Friday.

Friday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 29 degrees.


EARLIER REPORT: The Mississippi River is now expected to crest at 20.2 feet on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service late this morning.


EARLIER REPORT: Flood warnings. Flash flood warnings. Rain and snow. It's all in today's National Weather Service forecast.

Standing water is an issue for morning commuters as East River Drive has been closed between McClellan Boulevard and Mississippi Avenue. The 2900 block of Eastern Avenue also has been closed because of water.

And after 9 a.m., River Drive in downtown Davenport will be closed as crews set up temporary flood barriers.

Today's forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms with some of the storms producing heavy rainfall.

The temperature will rise to near 59 degrees by 9 a.m., then fall to around 52 degrees during the remainder of the day. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tonight there's a chance of rain before 4 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow. It will be mostly cloudy and breezy with a low around 35 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Friday brings a chance of rain and snow before 1 p.m., then a chance of rain. It will be mostly cloudy and breezy with a high near 44 degrees.  Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Friday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 28 degrees.

    BTW 30" snow is less than 3" worth of rain ....
