The Two Wheels and Tweed Social Club announces the annual Quad-Cities Tweed Ride Great River Edition. Bicyclists will gather at the Village Theatre, 2113 E. 11th St., in the Village of East Davenport, on Saturday. Registration is from 10-11:30 a.m. with riders departing for the leisure ride at noon. Cost to ride is free with donations accepted at www.riveraction.org to benefit River Action. Donors will receive a souvenir armband and be eligible to participate in the awards contests and prize giveaways.
Riders will travel to Credit Island Park’s Seurat Statue Garden for a picnic lunch from 1–2:15 p.m., enjoy music by the Quad-Cities Ukulele Club and afternoon tea, cider and scones.
A tandem promenade will be outside the Driftwood Pub from 3–3:45 p.m. The ride will conclude at the Village Theatre from 4-5:30 p.m. with a bike raffle and award presentations for most dapper gent, most fashionable lady, best vintage bike, most creative bike, most stylish tandem couple and best mustache.
Two Wheels and Tweed members will sell handmade “tweed flowers.” Ride founder Tim Nelson will auction off his beard, with proceeds donated to Timothy’s House of Hope. For more information, visit www.qctweedride.com.
The Tweed Ride is modeled after the original London Tweed Run, where riders wear traditional English attire.
