Good afternoon, Quad-Cities. Here’s your National Weather Service forecast for the afternoon.

It will be cloudy with a high near 57 degrees with winds from the south.

There will be areas of fog before midnight with the possibility of dense fog in some areas. Tonight there will be areas of drizzle, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight.  The low will be around 48 degrees. The chance for precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts could be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Thursday there will be showers and possible thunderstorms during the day. The high will be near 55 degrees. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.

Thursday night there is a chance of showers before midnight, then drizzle after midnight. There will be patchy fog after midnight. The low will be around 41 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible.

The National Weather Service said the Wapsipinicon River near DeWitt, Iowa, will rise above flood stage of 11 feet today and continue rising to 12.4 feet by Friday morning. The river could impact old U.S. 61 and structures near the old U.S. 61 bridge.

Flooding on tributary rivers will continue to worsen and become more widespread in response to runoff from rain and melting snow. Moderate to major flooding is expected on nearly all tributary rivers in eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois by early next week.
