A documentary made by two filmmakers who kayaked 2,300 miles down the Mississippi River will be shown for free at 8 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park bandshell, Bettendorf.

“The River is Life” documents the journey Phillip Hullquist and Ryan Jeanes took down the river in the summer of 2009. Hullquist and Jeanes have now embarked on a 45-city tour of river towns to screen their film.

Other local screenings of the film include Sept. 5 at the Riverview Park bandshell in Clinton; Sept. 8 at Den Besten Park in Fulton, Ill.; Sept. 10 at Riverside Park in Moline; and Sept. 12 at Crapo Park in Burlington, Iowa. All screenings begin at 7:30 p.m.
