Federal employees involved with the Combined Federal Campaign and funded agencies have exceeded this year’s goals and will celebrate today at Rock Island Arsenal Club. Employees pledged $821,390. Maj. Gen. Yves J. Fontaine, Illowa Bi-State Combined Federal Campaign honorary chairman, will speak. Patrick Behr, a fire inspector at Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, will read his essay that won first place in the essay contest. Behr’s son-in-law was injured while serving in Afghanistan and benefited from CFC charities during his recovery.

Of the funds collected, 47 percent stays in the Quad-City area, while 53 percent goes to national and international organizations. The top three agencies with highest donations were United Way of the Quad-Cities Area, Humane Society of Rock Island and Shriners Hospital for Children.
